We’re the Pfeifer family, caretakers of healthy high-bush blueberries in Fenwick, Ont. offered for picking under the name BlueByYou.

We didn’t set out to become growers/U-Pick people when we moved to the Niagara region in 2019, but the property that captured our hearts happened to have an acre of mature blueberry bushes – that is WAY too much fruit for one family to eat/share/freeze/bake with…

The blueberry patch (well, 3 patches, technically, planted in close proximity to one another at the back of our 3-acre property) was planted by the Arthur family and had been previously run as a U-Pick, so we figured, ‘why not!?’

Tending the patch is a year-round endeavour, but nothing compared to the time and effort it would have taken for the Arthurs to plant, irrigate and nurture dozens of rows of young bushes 30 or so years ago – we honour their vision by continuing to care for and share the fruits of their labour.

BlueByYou is a side-gig. We have careers and school and sports… but between the adults and kids, we all pitch in to share in the work.

Although berry season is very brief, the patch is an integral part of our Fenwick life all year round.

Whether it is helping with pruning, mowing, pulling weeds, picking, filling orders, or selling pints at the roadside, BlueByYou is a family affair.

We’ve even enlisted help from grandparents, aunts and uncles on occasion.

The patch is a peaceful place – being out in the fresh air, hearing the wind in the trees and birds chirping while plucking plump delicious blueberries to fill up your basket is time so well spent.

We invite you to come enjoy, and as our business name suggests, take home some tasty fresh berries of blue, hand picked … by you.
